Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Overview
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a step down from PHP or it can be a direct step into care from the community as well as an added support to traditional outpatient services. It’s designed to help individuals who are either experiencing an increase in distressing symptoms and behaviors or for those who are not progressing in traditional outpatient services. Similar to PHP, IOP is a group therapy-based program that also incorporates individual and family therapy when clinically indicated. Programming is still evidence-based, structured, and intensive, but differs from PHP primarily in frequency and duration. Clients attend programming anywhere from three to fives days per week for a minimum of three hours each day.
The comprehensive programming and added support foster meaningful improvement and creates a solid foundation before transitioning to community providers. In cases where an IOP client does not already have established community providers such as a therapist and psychiatrist, our treatment team will help to coordinate referrals and an aftercare plan that promotes ongoing recovery and maintenance of progress. Our IOP allows for treatment flexibility around class schedules, work or other obligations.
